Selection of Sites
A major advantage of Medical World Search is that it downloads
and indexes the full content of the major medical sites on the Web
only, excluding many sites that contain information that is of
questionable quality. This guarantees that results of your queries
will be from sites that have been recognized as
containing high quality information. Since the full content is indexed,
you can search for any word in any of the pages of the major medical
sites.
Selection Criteria
The main criteria for indexing sites by Medical World Search are:
- The site contains valuable information that is useful
for medical professionals in clinical practice. To a more
limited extent, information that is useful for patients
has been included; the quality of those sites has to be
particularly high.
- Information that has been peer-reviewed is viewed as
particularly valuable and is more likely to be indexed
by Medical World Search.
- The information is organized and Web pages are easy to
read.
- Priority is given to full-text information rather than
abstracts. Multimedia information is also highly
regarded.
- The information is well-maintained.
- The information is highly accurate.
- The information provider is of excellent reputation.
- Medical World Search also indexes sites that are listed in
the major medical directories on the Web that appear to follow
the criteria above:

the Hardin metadirectory .

Medical World Search relies on its staff and collaborators
to screen sites that are not in the major medical directories
on the Web for fulfillment of these criteria.

information on the Web that conforms to the criteria above,
it is impossible to track the large number of sites present
on the Web, or,
because of technical limitations, Medical World Search may
miss or be unable
